Since 1986, Quality Tax & Bookkeeping Services, Inc. has provided tax and accounting services in the Western Massachusetts area. We strive not only to serve our customers when they come to our office, but also to educate our clients about tax saving strategies throughout the year. This is Quality Tax & Bookkeeping's last tax season. She will be interviewing prospective successors, making sure that the person who is rewarded with her referrals will be competent, reasonable, and personable.
After this tax season, Sue will send all of her clients a letter giving them information about: a new recommended tax person; client and tax worksheets needed to complete their taxes in the future.

Services
Quality Tax & Bookkeeping Services, Inc. is owned and operated by Susan Lastowski.
A graduate of Bates College with her graduate work done at the University of Massachusetts in Amherst, Sue had worked previously as an auditor at Baystate Medical Center, and had subcontracted to various area CPA firms.
In 1986, she decided to create her own business.
She worked the business part-time while holding down a full-time teaching position in the Holyoke Public School System.
Over the years, through word-of-mouth referrals, (the best kind of advertising!) the business grew.

Are you in the process of sending your child off to college?
As any parent knows who has already "been there done that, " filling out the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) form and each college's subsequent financial paperwork can be a daunting task.
We can help you.
In fact, if you book your tax appointment early enough, we can probably complete both your taxes AND FAFSA in one sitting.
We either fill out the worksheets for you to enter online later, or we can enter online directly from the office.

A maximum of $2500 of student loan interest paid can be deducted from your taxable income if your income is under the phase-out amounts.
Those amounts have increased for the 2014 tax season.
By the way, the interest deduction is only available to the people who are liable for the loan.
For example, if the loan is in your child's name, yet you are making all the payments, the write off is NOT available to you unless you had co-signed the loan, making yourself equally liable.
The maximum earned income tax credit available in 2015 is $6,242, which is an increase of $99 over the 2014 levels.

Without belaboring EVERY detail, I'll try to give you a useful overview.
What Do Individuals Need to Know About the ACA?
