Richard and Carol Carlson moved to Sanford, NC in 1998 after spending 27 years in Anchorage, Alaska. Richard began his Public Accounting career with Touche Ross and Co. in Minneapolis. His love and expertise in research led him to the tax area. He transferred to Anchorage to head up the tax department in the pre pipeline era. After five years, he and Joe Whitlock, formed Whitlock, Carlson and Associates where he oversaw the tax department.

This area comprised the tax compliance and planning, business planning and litigation support functions of the firm. Richard felt fortunate that many of his Alaska clients remained with him when he made the move to North Carolina. The clients think that correspondence via e-mail, phone and the Post Office have kept the communication as open and viable as their face to face meetings.

Richard has developed a strong, diverse North Carolina client base composed of individuals and small to medium sized professional and operating businesses. The individual clients run the gambit of retirees to young military families.
