While searching for a name she remembered her favorite nickname given to her by a very important student of hers from her preschool teaching days. Thus began Hoota Bookkeeping! The Long Version: I, Jennifer Plahuta, was in financial jobs most of my adult life; whether it be in banking or accounting/bookkeeping type jobs. I loved my job but after having a child I decided staying home and taking care of my family was more important.
3 years later another child came along and thus extended my days of being a homemaker and mother. What a blessing! Once both children were in school I felt the tug of returning to work. I began working for 2 small businesses doing bookkeeping and also decided to go back to school to get my bookkeeping certification. That wasn't bringing in enough for our growing family and so a friend recommended me for a preschool teaching job.
That started a very fun 2 years of my life where I met the student who would give me the nickname Ms. Hoota. From there I went to an elementary school as an aid for autistic children.
