John graduated from Aurora (Illinois) University with the BA in Accounting and then completed his Master of Accounting Science (MAS) degree at Northern Illinois University, where he was also a graduate teaching assistant.
He passed the CPA examination while attending graduate school and then started his career as a staff auditor with Ernst & Young, a Big 4 accounting firm in Chicago.
