It's very important that people be properly classified to avoid fines and/or assessment of back payroll taxes at a later date.
Q: If I'm going to fire an employee, when am I required to pay them for hours they've worked?
A: Immediately, at the time of termination, the employee must be paid in full including any accrued Vacation time.
A: If you must fire an employee outside of our normal business hours, withhold 10% of their gross pay and that will be sufficient to cover the mandatory payroll taxes.
