Bert attended the University of Texas at Austin where he earned a Bachelors in Business Administration degree in 1985.
After completing college, he earned his CPA certificate while working in the Dallas and San Antonio offices of Ernst & Young (one of the largest CPA firms in the world) performing tax and auditing services for companies in a wide variety of industries (including American Airlines and Mobil Oil, amongst others).
